Updated: Jun 1, 2023

The Mothers’ Club at UWS Fungling was thrilled to organize its first ECA (Extra-Curricular Activity) event for the students. The school's 46 students and the Mothers’ Club had the opportunity to showcase their skills. The club had planned various activities for the different grades, including the ECD (Early Childhood Development) Balloon Burst for the little ones, the Biscuit Race for Grades 1 and 2, and the Quiz Competition for Grades 3, 4, and 5. Stationery items were distributed as prizes for the winners, also managed by the Mothers’ Club.

The event took place on the 14th of March 2023, and it was a huge success. The children were excited to participate, and the Mothers’ Club members were thrilled to see the joy on the children's faces. The event was a first for UWS schools, and it marked a significant achievement for the Mothers’ Club.

However, this success took work. The UWS officials, including the EO (Education Officer) Amrit Dhakal, SM (School Mobilizer) Sushma Ghimire, and Community Teacher Chandika Karki, had organized a Mothers’ Capacity Building Session before the ECA event. During the session, the Mothers’ Club members were trained in public speaking and asked to introduce UWS posters in the school assembly. This session was crucial in realizing the importance of parents' involvement in their children's education and the role they could play in improving the quality of education.

The Mothers’ Club members were highly motivated and excited to be a part of the improvement of their children's education. They expressed their gratitude towards UWS officials for the opportunity and looked forward to attending more Mothers’ Capacity Building Sessions in the future. Overall, the ECA event organized by the Mothers' Club was a significant milestone for UWS Fungling. The Mothers' Club members' commitment and hard work had paid off, and they were eager to continue contributing to the development of their children's education.

Chitra Kala Karki, the Chairperson of the Mothers’ Club said, “The credit goes to UWS's leadership training, for boosting our confidence in communicating with the community. The club members now express their perspectives to both school admins and local leaders and have successfully organized monthly extracurricular activities to promote education among students. This has proven to be very beneficial and empowering, especially for us mothers.”
