Jaka Village: Where Lahu and Hmong Ethnics Meet

Jaka village is located in the Tachileik Township near to the Laos- Myanmar border. People living in that area easily across to the Laotion side by a jetty boat which take 15 minutes from Myanmar territory. The beautiful thing about this village is that it is where two ethnic minorities live happily. In Myanmar, there are 135 ethnic minorities. It is not usual that two groups of ethnic minorities live peacefully together. UWS built a school in Jaka village and it has been serving these two communities for more than 3 years. There are over 60 lovely kids attending the school and there are two community teachers. Being isolated and located in a remote area, no government school existed before UWS started the initiative.
